Free Music For Your Listening Pleasure

Bamboo Flute (Bansuri)

Darbari
Kerry Kriger playing solo alap in one of the most widely appreciated ragas, Darbari (aka Darbari Kanhra). This raga is said to have been created by Mian Tansen in the 17th century. This is a late night raga.

"Hi Kerry. I once heard your recording of Darbari and was blown away by it. I myself started playing bansuri ever since and I have at least become comfortable with the instrument. I have been playing some of the tunes from your videos. It's great. I love it. Regards. Ali Khan"

"Dear Kerry, Thank you so much for this wonderful recording. I am an ardent lover and learner of the divine bamboo flute (bansuri) and it's a great pleasure to be associated with you. Looking forward for more such recordings and tips from you.
Regards, Ramesh"

Bhairavi
Kerry Kriger with Travis Jenkins on electric guitar and Chris Lait on djembe. Recorded in Brisbane, Australia 2007. This was our first time ever jamming together. Bhairavi is a morning raga.

Bhoopali
This recording features Kerry Kriger on bansuri and Chris Berry on electric guitar. This was the first piece we ever played together on flute and guitar. Recorded May 22, 2011 at the CB Felton Shack.

Jhinjoti
I recorded this alap in Jhinjoti at the SAVE THE FROGS! Education Center in Berkeley, California, September 15, 2014.

Bageshri (Bageshwari)
I hadn't played Bageshri in many months and the thought hit me to play it. I played some alap and then a composition in ektal came to my head -- though I had never learnt a composition in ektal for Bageshri. I liked it so I turned on my recording equipment to make sure it will stay in my consciousness and over the years will develop into something spectacular as my music deepens. This is where it all began.

Chandrakauns
Kerry Kriger accompanied by Marcelo Rodriguez on santoor, Buenos Aires, Luz de Luna, March 2002. Chandrakauns is a full moon raga.

Bhoopali
Kerry Kriger playing Bhoopali, which is one of the oldest melodies known. Background is Kerry on guitar.

"Hi Kerry, It gives me an immense pleasure to listen the Bhairavi Mp3 of yours, everyday morning. It is such a melody and intense tune, enlightens every thought of mine. Let me confess, you are one of the inspirations for me to take up Flute learning process. Though I was into it more amateurish earlier, now, I've taken it serious and started learning. Will be waiting for more such tunes."
Regards, Venkat Tadepalli
